Woven Stories of Bali — Crafted by Nature, Carried by Culture
At PT. Heat Abhaya Shankara, our journey has always been about more than just exporting handicrafts. It is about people, culture, and the natural beauty woven into every piece. Inspired by Balinese heritage but deeply rooted in Yogyakarta, we collaborate with artisans from villages in Gunung Kidul and Kulon Progo, turning natural fibers like mendong, seagrass, banana stem, water hyacinth, and agel into timeless pieces.
Empowering Local Artisans
Behind each product we export lies the hands of skilled local artisans. These artisans, often from small rural communities, carry generations of traditional craftsmanship. Yet, their economic reality is far from easy.
As of 2025, the minimum wage in Gunung Kidul is only Rp 2,330,263 (≈ USD 141) per month, and in Kulon Progo it stands at Rp 2,351,239 (≈ USD 142). Compare this with the capital city of Indonesia, Jakarta, where the minimum wage reaches Rp 5,396,760 (≈ USD 327).
This gap shows the challenges faced by communities in rural Yogyakarta. By working with us, artisans gain access to more consistent opportunities, fairer income, and the pride of seeing their crafts valued internationally.
A Shared Vision
Our motto, “Woven Stories of Bali — Crafted by Nature, Carried by Culture,” reflects both tradition and sustainability. Every product we export is not just functional, it is a cultural story, a statement of eco-conscious living, and a bridge between Indonesia and the world.
Through collaboration, we ensure that Indonesian handicrafts can stand proudly on the global stage, competing with similar products worldwide, while maintaining ethical practices and a commitment to nature.
Carrying Culture to the World
Today, our supply chain includes hundreds of artisans, producing baskets, placemats, wall décor, and more. Each piece embodies a story: the story of local communities, the story of culture preserved, and the story of sustainability.
For us, success is not just measured by shipments and contracts, but by the lives touched, the skills preserved, and the awareness we bring to global buyers, that Indonesian natural handicrafts are not only beautiful but also competitive in quality and price.
Closing Thought
We are proud to stand alongside our artisans, carrying their legacy into homes, hotels, and stores across the world. This is not only our business, it is our commitment to empowerment, culture, and sustainability.
